cact1972
I'm wanting to go for c20xe power and i'm wondering what gearbox and axle to go for in my ascona 400 project? Any of you guys got alternative ideas to just having the 1.8 gearbox and standard rear axle? Also tried and tested info would be welcome.. Thanks

Thanks Ford type 9 with tran x/quaife internals and a 5 link ford atlas axle, escort 1&2 set up so is tried and tested plus ford performance bits are easier and cheaper to come by. Check out SBD and, i think, Titan Motorsport for bellhousings. HTH Chris

lamchop77
Thanks Chris, are the type 9 internals (trans x/quaife) a standard or an after market upgrade? Bump up anymore ideas anyone ? Tran-x and Quaife are aftermarket kits, think they'll handle up to around 200-210bhp. Last time i looked the gear kits were around 800 quid then you have to fit them. You can use std 4 or 5 speed capri/granada boxes, seen those take over 300 bhp and i think SBD do a bellhousing to fit to the XE. Other rear ends are Sierra or BMW independant set up, both will need a bit of cutting and fab work. HTH Chris
