e966kfl
Removed the engine and gearbox from my manta yesterday and noticed the prop could be twisted about an 1/8 of a rev before it stopped (handbrake was on at the time) is this right ? ....seems to me to feel like excessive backlash somewhere between the prop and wheels . Having never used the car on the road i have only 'drove it' at low speed and have noticed a drivetrain related whine in first gear also after spending a little time laying under the car this weekend i have also noticed the diff cover plate has been leaking oil at some point (have not checked oil level yet). mantadoc
Not an unusual amount of backlash in my experience. I would be more concerned about the whine. However, if it wines going 10 mph in 1st and doesn't wine going 10 mph in second it's not the axle is it as all that stuff is still turning at exactly the same speed. These things shouldn't leak but some leakage is common. So is the back axle catching oil blown backwars from engin leaks.
