Black Hatch
Hi all, Ive just taken a gte hatch fuel tank off to clean up, its tidy and not rusty outside, with only paint flaking away, but when i poured petrol into bucket i found a few rust particles coming out from inside the tank. Is my best bet to use petseal ?
Andy18s
get some good size sharp edge gravel, or some clean nuts and bolts and a little water inside and give it a damn good rattle around to displace anymore loose rust that may starting to lift inside the tank. leave to dry naturaly,no hair dryers or anything! I've personally not used any tanks sealers but i'm sure someone can recommend a good one. Andy
keith1200
Normally! rust inside tanks are due to owners never filling them up, over a period of many years! meaning the upper section of the tank is rusty!. I've no idea how you can solve this other than following Andy's advice (seems like a good idea). Then never, ever let the fuel 'get to low' because all them little bits of rust will block your fuel filter. Clean it the best you can, and avoid running the fuel too low.
