smghd
My '73 needs a new clutch as the slip is getting worse as the weeks go on. Precision Clutch have clutch kits on the shelf but they have a standard and a heavy duty listed for the 1900, without taking it apart first I don't know which is fitted. I know the heavy duty clutch has a larger diameter to the std clutch but can it be fitted to a standard flywheel? i.e the clutch cover/pressure plate has the same hole pattern and spacing. obviously I'd rahter have the clutch kit ready to go when I start the job but at the moment looks like I'll have to strip her down then order the clutch, or order a std and hope it's the right one (or both and return the one that I don't need but thats a extra £60+vat I don't have to spend out, lus return postage)
611
When you say heavy duty clutch, what size is the clutch plate? Normal manta is 8" and i think it was the same size for the 1.6 and 1.9 (but put me right if im wrong) you can get a 9" but you will need a bigger flywheel from the Monza, but only needed if you have lots more power. Ran standard AP clutch in mine and was running a 2.1 Andy
Beaker
I have a clutch disk, no bearing or pressure plate, any use?
611
I have a clutch disk, no bearing or pressure plate, any use? I have a spare pressure plate and bearing, could be a good match!
smghd
Thanks for the offer but win the slipping I'd deduce it's the pressure plate that's a little weak so full kit. Precision clutches have a 200mm & 228mm in stock. As the she's standard I'd deduce that is has the std fitted on std flywheel. Just wondered as changed other clutches that would have room for a larger plate under the cover if they do them (didn't look as mates' cars). At least thus should be a little easier than those as the drive is at the right end of the car...
611
If you have the 4 speed box i dont think there is much space for a bigger one, but if you have the 5 speed there is a lot of space for a bigger one but you will need the bigger flywheel. And the 5 speed box is a bugger to got off unless you drop the suspension down. i think the 4 speed is easy as is. Steve, where in Hampshire are you? im in bournemouth!!
