i2000
hi my servo has started sucking air in from inside the car and stops when i brake it hasnt done this before but does it every time now,the brakes are the best they have been since being back on the road after 17 years, the revs do drop a bit when i brake, the haynes does mention a valve inside the servo which opens when the brakes are not in use.is this normal, sorry for the daft questions but i have never owned or driven a manta before. the noise from the clutch has gone now,i trimmed a bit off the gaitor and fitted a return spring. spiney_norman
Sounds like a knackered servo to me. Worth pulling off and checking, I found this when I was having issues a few years ago. The servo shouldn't make a noise if it's working properly, if you can hear it sucking then it's a vacuum leak,
i2000
the servo has been off recently and was very clean inside and out,it had light rust under the seal where the vacuum pipe goes in but rubbed off easy enough, there is no way of checking the seals or diaphragm.it also stops if i rev the engine so could be a dodgy seal. i2000
hi,i took the servo off tonight and found the problem,a spring had broken on a seal that the plastic tube slides on,i fitted another spring and put it back together and went for a drive and is ok now.
mantadoc
All these servos "draw air" from inside the car when you press the pedal, there is even a filter around the pedal rod no one ever cleans or replaces.
