Irmscher Man
Just up on the Opel Manta Owners Club YouTube Channel is the second instalment of the Videos from the Practical Classics Restoration Show at the NEC. In this video we have a look at what was hiding under the blue car cover, the white GT/E Coupe belonging to OMOC Member, Dave Cooper. The story that goes with this car has a great association with the NEC, as this is where we first met Dave, when he was looking for a Manta Project. The Club helped find a car and also assisted with the conversion work that Dave had in mind and a few years later, this is the culmination of that project. The car has recently had a new rear end and had the usual Manta Sunroof issues sorted out too. For this job, a new panel was fabricated and welded into the roof, which saved the hassle of removing the complete Roof skin and finding a new one. The workmanship involved in creating the panel with the English Wheel and the skill involved in welding it in clearly shows when looking at the finished product. Needless to say, I think Dave was quite pleased with the result. It is stories like this that show what the OMOC is all about and along the way, we have all made a good new friend. Dave was helping out on the club stand all weekend and was only too happy to chat to people about the car! For those of you that like a bad pun, this car was referred to as "Coop's Coupe" this weekend - I think this might just stick!
