Guest
Hello all I have a 1981 Y reg Opel Manta Berlinetta 1.8s in silver. All original 3 owners from new we have had the car for about 12 years and its been garaged unused for the last 10. Sadly the rust has crept in to the door sills and some welding is required underneath but the engine is sound as are the original alloy wheels etc. 69,000miles on the clock guaranteed. I am looking to sell it but haven't a clue where to start or an indicative value. I have a few pictures and it still looks fantastic albeit a bit rusty in places. A great car though. Thanks for your help Best regards Chris (Eastcoast)
garymanc
hi chris and welcome you could post it in the car's for sale section,as you have been honest about the car with photo's and description sadly hatchbacks don't sell for much good luck with the sale
Rick-Manta
Looks very nice, on first glance it's almost deceptive that the underside needs attension with the outer panels looking so solid. Value wise, if I had a few hundred to spare I'd be happy paying about £400 if that would give you a better idea. Dependant on how far gone it is, it might pay you to find a specialist welder and get the car MOT'd and serviced as it would then be worth substantially more. I'm not questioning your knowledge on your own car but are you sure it's an '81, I thought Y plates were Sept 1982-August 1983?
Guest
Much appreciated, my thanks to both Rick-Manta and garymanc Will certainly take your respective advice. Rick as for the plates I bow to your superior knowledge, I was trying (unsucessfully) to count back! Cheers/Chris
Rick-Manta
Well I hope you get what you're after. I noticed in your post in the cars for sale bit it has a green interior, that will increase it's appeal I'm sure as that's very unusual for a 1.8 hatch, in fact quite unusual on any of the facelift mantas. Honestly, if I wasn't being ripped off by the temp agency I'm working for I'd be getting in touch with an offer. Cheers, Rick.
