mantadoc
This might be half of a how to but might be of some use. Usual story, reflector has gone. This is a dip / main / side unit. The only good bit may be the mounting ring. The mounting ring is in two pieces - see the line? I have heard of hot water being used to soften the glue but thought I would try fingernails. Started to move as shown by the clean bit. Continued to work around. Gently does it. This wouldn't quite separate, but with the bulb out it would slip out from between the rings - good enough. Dimple where the last piece of glue wouldn't let go. Looks like it would have broken before separating. Maybe hot water would be a good idea. This is a CIBIE main / dip / side unit. The sticker says the following: VALEO 0823710 10-03-93 36700479 Don't know if that is any help to anyone. The date is a surprise. Note the metal bit sticking up on the unit. These appear to align with the bolts so I guess they keep the hex bolt heads in the hex shaped plastic recess. Out of three lights I tried all three looked like the lights wouls come out without much effort. That's as far as I got. Measuring the tapered flange of the light unit with a caliper at it's wides it was approx 144.5mm, that's 5.69" I guess 5 3/4 approx? I think I might try some tiny countersunk screws in brass to hold bezels together once I have found some units. I think I'll start looking here
greg
Done this a few times and find that running a sharp thin flexible blade around the joint helps to persuade them apart.
mantadoc
You got any part numbers for replacements? Going to get some stainless bolts too.
greg
Mantadoc, Will have a look at the spare lamps I've got for a part No. Had them a while now so might not be valid anymore.
