Fasterthanyou
Just wondered what power the rear axle on a coupe can handle before it decides to spit out all its innerds? I am changing the engine in my coupe and was wondering if I neede to uprate the rear beam to handle the extra power? it will run about 300bhp so will it cope? lamchop77
I would think a definate yes to replace the axle. People talk about Volvo axles but i've not had any experience with them so don't know. Ford atlas axles will cope with a fair amount of power but at 300bhp you'll probably want the full floating type which will cost a packet. Rally design do a Hercules axle which will handle the power you want with a big range of ratios not that cheap at £1350 BUT you always have to pay for reliability. Depends what your budget is. mantadoc
I know they handle 180bhp fine, I think some people are using the 24V so about 220bhp? If you are asking if you should spend a load of money I would ask can you afford to see if it brakes then decide?

HTH Chris So do Rally Design make a direct replacement? just a bolt on effort? I might give them a ring. Thanks guys.
