hi guys i have a 1984 manta gte hatch and this is my first manta and the swan necks and jacking points are rotten my question is when redoing the swan necks do you have to cut out the exsisting or can you get skins to go over the whole thing and weld them in ? if so where can you get them? if not and i have to cut out the swan necks do i need to make some sort of a jig to keep the car from warping?also when replacing the jacking points do all the new jacking points have to have the tube bit replaced as it wont fit the jack?and finnally wheres the best place(best fitting) to get the jacking points and swan necks? dr manta? m&m drotten? ps autoteil?

Thanks :thumbup:thumbup

You can probably only get a replacement part for this, i have never seen that skin thing you mention, also that won´t repair the rust, it will only cover it dry.gif

Best solution is to replace.

Dr Manta is the place to go when no-one else has the parts you need. He is VERY expensive, but PS Autoteile are cheaper, and offer alot of stuff for the Manta´s as well . Also Bruhy Exclusiv has alot of parts for the manta´s allthough they mainly do interior parts wink.gif

You should be allright if the car is on the floor when changing this part, don´t need to dismount the entire front axle and bridge for this, only the triangle should be removed., Those can be real bastards to dismount though biggrin.gif

Yup thats it, the wishbone that is attached at the swan neck. thumbsup.gif sorry its called a triangle here in Denmark laugh.gif

I dont think theres much difference regarding quality of this part. You could check up on Ebay.de for maybe a original GM part ?

I would place the stands to simulate that the car is on its wheels when doing this. Anyway no harm is done if you set up more stands to keep the car in place cool.gif better safe than sorry mate thumbsup.gif
