Aggressor
hi was wondering if I got a 2.0 red top engine what would be the ideal gearbox for it? & it would be going into a manta b if that matters... thanks rob
johnboy
Getrag gearbox from the 1.8 ohc manta mates up to the redtop for rear wheel drive configuration, or use an alloy adaptor plate and a ford type 9 five speed from a sierra (not the all alloy mt7 box), manta box would be the easiest and cheapest tho

monzta
An R25-R28 gearbox from a Omega A would also fit they also have a much better ratio (0.8 in 5th gear the Getrag has 1,0) but you need to make a custom propshaft.
Retro Power
Getrag 240 (manta box) is overdrive 5th too, but anyway, as above, the omega box is great, cheap, MUCH stronger than manta box, but needs a custom prop and hydraulic clutch conversion. Lots being fitted now, we've done bits for ten or so in recent weeks
monzta
I don´t think that they all have hydraulic clutch, not from the Omega A series anyways?
Retro Power
Ah, good point, you are right just me being silly English, omega a over here was vauxhall Carlton, and yes had cable clutch
monzta
Yup thats right I´m not used to the British names of the cars yet, but hopefully it will sink in some day (why did they call them different names when they eventually ended up with the same name anyways?)
