mantapaperman
hi all. bought a C20XE with ecu and loom. its a dizzy type but the chap i got it of thinks it had a cat? how do i get round this as i wont be fitting a cat obviously..but the ecu will be looking for a signal off the oxy-lambda sensor. will i have to fit a lambda sensor in the exhaust? or should i try and source a ecu from the early 20xe-j?any advise greatly appreciated Edited June 16, 2012 by mantapaperman
redmanta xe
yes i did fit one to mine u can get early loom and ecu from a 20xe ( u dont need a oxy lambda sensor u have a c20xe ecu and loom u need fit a oxy lambda sensor if use this ecu u will have to fit one in the exhuast
rutts
it will run with out sensor but i would fit one, i put mine in the four branch manifold just where they all collect into single pipe. you can buy the threaded bit to weld into your pipe off ebay. johnboy
You already have the loom and ecu so use that, buy a threaded plug from an exhaust supplier and weld it into the down pipe where all 4 pipes meet up, it will read the exhaust gases and help the ecu regulate the fuelling, dont be tempted to just tape up the connector to the lambda sensor or it would flag up a fault in the ecu and you would have poor running and it may go into limp mode. Dom400
Hi, Just been sorting out my new engine and fixing this issue, the C20XE engine should be run with a Lambda sensor to get best results. But you can bypass the sensor and the ECU will run fine without it as long as no other major mods have been done to the engine that affect its fueling. If you are running without a Lambda sensor make sure pin 20 is earthed, this tells the ecu is not there and not broken! Laters, Dom
mantapaperman
thanks guys . Dom400 do i cut the wire coming out of the ecu plug and say earth it with an eyelet on one of the ecu mounting bolts? or do i eart the other side of the cut wire that goes to the lambda sensor? er no cos there wouldnt be a sensor connected would there so it wouldnt matter..anyway thanks
Dom400
thanks guys . So on my car untill i fit a lambda sensor I have bridged pin 20 to 42 (black & red earth). Should really run a lambda sensor! But I am a bit broke at the moment after replacing the engine so this is just a temp solution, I suggest you also get a lambda sensor fitted!
