Juan Jurgen Pike
hellos, i'm the proud owner of a 1972 Opel manta A, in my opinion one of the prettiest little machines around. im from PE, one of the very southern most coastal cities in SA, and Mantas are REALLY scarce down here. im currently restoring my car, and upgrading items as necessary, my idea is to make her cosmetics as origional as possible and make the mechanical and electronics as new as possible. Ill be asking alot of questions as i go along and will create a project car section when im done. but ja, HELLO

malbasys
Hello Juan, Good luck with the project. I have an original condition 1975 SA car, bought new in SA and now living in the UK - been in the family since new and came to the UK in 1975. While it's not in daily use now, it get used for club events and at least one trip each year to Europe. You can see pictures of it on the SVVS website http://www.svvs.org/ - look at the meetings sections. How about keeping the mechanicals original too? They're pretty bullet-proof, and the 4-speed box is alright on the motorway up to 120kph or so. We treat ours as a modern car on trips. I fear there is an ever decreasing number of original Mantas about. Best wishes, Malcolm
