doveyte2800
Hi there, Can anyone please tell me the free length and poundage rate of both front and rear standard springs for a Manta A. Thanks
Stev0
i'm actually also quite curious... would be interesting to see what other springs could be retrofitted onto it...
tony g
According to the factory manual the rates are : Front : No load, 14.8 inch (376mm) Loaded to 8 inch = 950 lbs Wire thickness 12.15mm On another page (very old pages) it says: No load 12.8 inch (325mm) loaded to 7.6 inch = 682 lbs (Im assuming these are the rears) HTH Tony
tony g
Front 14.8 to 8 inch = 6.8" 950lb/ 6.8 = 140 so maybe these are 140 lb/inch rating? Tony
doveyte2800
hi Tony, Thanks for that, youve lost me a bit, but thanks. Dont think your assumption on the rear springs is right as they are definately longer than 325mm . Its a start so will keep digging
tony g
Yes its a bit vague in the book tbh. They quote unloaded (as in free length) then loaded to compress to a certain length 8" in this case and give the poundage once its compressed to 8" Yes the rears are a wrong assumption as you say. tony g
doveyte2800, whats your goal here? i can prob take some springs to work and get real world answers with used springs but i'm not sure how relevant they are for your case. Are you trying to get a specific ride height or poundage for an application? Tony
monzta
Maybe its for the 2,
doveyte2800
hi TonyG, I am trying to calculate lengths and poundage for the next rally car to replace the TE but i need a starting point hence the request for standard info. The ones we had for the TE are far to hard, thus long, to be fitted on a 2.0ltr. Regards
