pacea1 Posted May 14, 2013 Share Posted May 14, 2013 Just thought i would introduce myself and my new purchase a monaco blue exclusive coupe . I used to road rally mantas in the mid 90s and also had a few as road cars . i moved on to stage rallying in escorts but packed all this in a few years back and after years of restoring cars (this included a lotus sunbeam , vw camper , rs2000 to name a few) and then selling them to fund the next project i decided to buy a manta to keep and cherish. It came to me with the engine already taken out and minus its bonnet . I jumped at the chance to buy it as its totally complete (except for the bonnet of course). rust issues in the roof and swan necks but otherwise solid even on the jacking points. The interior is very very clean .i got the engine back in within a couple of hours of getting it to the workshop . Work will progress in between restoring another vw camper and an anglia road / race car for my dad ! hopefully someone can help me out with finding a bonnet. I'm in chesterfield derbyshire and would be interested in meeting up with fellow enthusiasts. if someone can let me know when the sheffield meet is on next i'll try and show my face .
