They_Call_Me_Jopel
Greetings from the U.S. I have a couple questions for anybody that can answer then. Any & all input welcome. My Dad was a HUGE Opel nut! Ever since I can remember, we always had 5 Opel Manta A's in the family. 71 Manta A 1900 yellow W/black landau 72 Manta A Rallye yellow W/black stripes 73 Manta A Luxus dark blue W/dark blue landau 74 Manta A lite blue 75 Manta A "POOP" brown fuel injection A little less than 12 yrs ago after my Dad died, we sold the remaining 2 Opel's. I didn't care to much cause I wasn't very fond of them until now! I'm regretting selling them more and more. So I set out to try & find one to buy. That's when I realized selling them was a huge mistake. I guess being around them my whole life, it never occurred to me how hard it would be to find one. They're actually close to impossible to find in the U.S. now. Being Opel-less is making me feel depressed & full of regret. Which leads me to a couple question I have... Does anyone know how hard it would be to import one into the U.S.? Is it even possible or worth it? Are they old enough to be exempt under EPA emissions requirement to import a vehicle? Last question... If none of the a fore mentioned are do-able, I was wondering would it be worth the effort to sell & ship parts over seas. I ask because I have lots of spare Opel parts. I hate to just scrap it all. there is no demand for them here. Are parts for these old Manta's readily available in other countries? Parts are very scarce here, but so are the cars. Anybody have any thoughts? Either shipping a car over to the U.S. or shipping my used parts over seas? Thanks! 611
Also worth getting in touch with the guys at Opel GT Source http://www.opelgtsource.com/ as one of them had an A series ( I think it was Dennis) and i bought some bits from him and had a friend bring them back to the UK, so im sure they will know people who still have the A's out there and might be able to help you. They_Call_Me_Jopel
Thanks fior all the info guys. Been familiarizing myself with the modern day Opel. a lot has changed from what I remember of opel. These cars are amazing. Makes me want to move to Europe just to drive the new Opels. I suppose I could go find a Saturn Sky, Pontiac Solstice or even a Buick Regal. But it just wouldn't be the same. Well, thanks again!
