611
On the new setup for the A seires im going ditributerless, but need to keep the drive for the oil pump but dont need all the top bit. So are there any ideas for loosing the top part and capping it off? Thanks Andy
mantadoc
There used to be a machined plug someone did for this that had a shaft to it (assuming CIH). However the standard dizzy cut down and aplastic cap on he end but not air tight would seem to be the answer to me.
611
Yep we're proper old school CIH ;-) I was thinking of making a cap but thought somewhere that i had seen something that had been made. just trying to save myself from having to add another a job to the list!! tony g
if you do make a cap to seal it up maybe a good time to add a pipe to it and use as a second breather pipe? Tony

Tony Hey Tony Good point. i found this pic and it looks like he is using a brake pipe adaptor or similar as a breather take off. Where would you route the pipe to? andy

I would take the pipe and T into an existing breather or if you don't want to have it running through the fresh air for the engine just run it to fresh air . Make sure it doesn't splash out though or it may need a breather type filter on it. Tony

I have the fuel system all setup and working now and im just mounting the coil and then its a check over all the fittings to make sure they are al tight and sealed and then fill her up with oil and water ready for a start up in the new year! is there any steps i should take before the first turn of the key? i used engine rebuild lube on all the parts when i built the engine up and will pour the oil over the cam when i fill up rather than just through the filler and will give the engine a turn over by hand to try and circulate the oil. the cam is coming out if it does start and run as i have a nice new one from ENEM to go in but just wondered what was they best way to approach the start up. It might not run so it may turn out that all the prep will go to waste! but just in case someone up there is looking down on me with some good thoughts i was thinking i best be prepared if it does go ;-) Andy
mantadoc
Your existing distributor has vents in the bottom if you look, breathing through the bearing should be slight and oils it because people that over waterproof dizzys have them sieze
