davegettingonabit
My mechanic says that the fan pushes against a raised plastic area when he try's to attach it would seem to be too long ! never read anyone having this problem
davegettingonabit
Thanks for the link Mick it looks like this can be a problem solved by moving the impellor back as far as you can, I will send back to get David to check for me in a Manta and hopefully adjust and get back to me, Thanks once again. Mickfrad
Your welcome Dave, hope you get it sorted. It makes a significant difference. Here's a picture of the two motors together from when I did mine, you can see the length and width difference of the impeller shaft.

Mickfrad
I fitted mine with the resister in the airflow as the thermal fuse used to blow on the polo, leaving only full power available. Not that this should be a problem on the manta.
mantasrme
It shouldn't be the back of the motor hitting the plastic air intake part on the ones i build if the above conversion fits without touching. I shorten the motor shaft and tuck the motor right up to the back of the impeller, the jubilee clip is almost at the rear of the motor body without spacers between the brackets and mounting ring so there is a lot less sticking behind the mounting ring than in the above pictures. One of the problems with the original position in the polo is that water gets through the air intake and into the heater housing inside the car, unfortunately the lowest point inside the heater box is where the resistor sits.
