Am I correct in thinking that Mr MOT will be looking for a continuous run on any obvious welding?

(Putting the strength issues to one side) I am concerned that unless you conceal your repairs, you might have a problem with your 'spot welds'. The other area of concern might also be water ingress at the places where the plates join, but perhaps you have used seam sealer?

By the way, no way am I having a go at your work. I have a massive amount of this type of work coming up and welding of any car has only ever been limited to small 'MOT patches' for me.

Last picture only show it tact in place had got photo of floor weld all round  from both sides ,Mr Mot man should realise that original jacking point is only spot weld in place so plug mig weld should not be problem . Will use seam sealant before I paint and stone chip was a case of painting for pretection  was out side till 7 o’clock last night ,one of the reasons the floor rots under jacking point is because the very end of jacking point is not weld to the floor so the water and mud get in ,I’m going to seal this small gap re drill a couple of small holes in Jack point so I can  spray with wax oil ,the panels I brought you could weld all along the edges because they take in to fact that you might have some rot in floor ,but I repaired floor first and then reduced the sides so they were more in keeping with original jacking points  , regards sie willetts

ps I brought propane gas touch which was brill it help me to shape floor so I did not have to slit repair panel and weld each slit
