CamInHead
Nice motor. Just what I've got in mind on my wanted list (an early black GTE). I'd repaint the rocker cover, tidy up the HT Leads and give the whole bay a good degreaseing. Bit 'o elbow grease will make a huge difference. james
I'm doing the same thing. Plan to steam clean the engine, fit new rocker gasket ( to hopefully stop the oil leak ) and paint the block and rocker cover. Somebody said at Billing last year that you can use smooth hammerite for this!
paulmanta
Its only little things but they all add up, Get hold of some motorbike de-greaser from autoglym and give the engine bay a good clean up. try to avoid hosing the alternator or coil/dizzy too much as that could cause non-starting or poor runing, get a plastic bag or two for any bits you dont want to soak. If you have an oil filler cap that is silver WITH writing on it you can easily buff those up to a mirror shine with a bit of metal polish, i have done loads and they look really good when shiny, couple that with a nice re-painted rocker cover and the engine bay looks better already, then tidy the plug leads up with a set of thoese plastic clips and pop the rad tray on, shie up the battery, polish the inner wings a bit and it starts to look better than new. once you have done the above bits by hand get hold of some back to black or similar and spray all the rubber sound deadening and then wipe it to a shine. it will look very different.
