A friend of mine has told me that he read recently that there are less than 100 manta gte's taxed. I think he read it in a mag quoting dvla figures.

Does this sound right, seemed very few to me.

He also said that more were coupes than hatches and that the hatch could become less frowned upon due to rareness.

The figures quoted were for cars taxed & on the road - not including SORN's. Many of us have our cars ready (or in work) ready for taxation at the end of March or April (for six months). I know of at least six SORN's that will be on the road within a month or two (That's a Manta A, Three GT/E's an Exclusive and a GT) and that's just in the East Mids area.

but realistically, there isnt hundreds tucked away either, I would say add 25 models to each figure quoted, and those that are tucked away, could be either longterm or abandent for one reason, cant be put back together,

I would say the figures will level out in the coming years, as members keep what they have, and basically (they are not making them)

It doesnt say if the poll was taken during the summer (when most car are on the road (TAXED)

knowing TV, the info was probably put together months ago (6-8 months ago Ie AUG 08) when most cars were taxed.

I asked this question in 2006 ....

Answer.....

Their are 1035 MANTA's ( All variants ) registered in the UK

60% of those were on SORN at the time .............

I wonder what the figures are now ?

I wonder if that figure will have gone up due to saved and restored cars or down due to ones that have become too far gone?

My guess would be they are about the same or slightly less (due to the 1.8 problem) with as many being saved to slowly reappear as there are being broken for the sump and gearbox.

Cheers, Colin.
