Shug
Any ideas how to get the bonnet open on an A series when the cable has gone on release mechanism? I'm thinking of burning it open with 5 litres of petrol....
garymanc
cant you just yank the cable as far down as you can reach, use to do this scrapyard hunting back in the day. 5 litres of petrol can you afford to spend that much
paulmanta
A challenge....I would try and raise the car up at the front as far as I could and try to reach up into the engine bay from underneath. Two areas to target here, one is the hinges, they might be accessable from below, if you get them off then you might be able to lift the bonnet up enough the reach the latch release. The second target is the latch, its up above the middle of the gearbox as you know but you might get at the release mech if you have long arms and can get past the starter. I had to do a GTE yesterday, I undid the two 13mm bolts that held the latch in, they were easy to get at in comparison to the A.
