Hi all,

My '85 GT Coupe has had a new nose section fitted and unfortunately the VIN plates were binned attached to the old section!!

Does anyone know where I can get new ones made up? I have the V5 of course. My local Vauxhall dealers don't seem too interested.

I am in the Renfrewshire area of Scotland.

My email address is dean.sands@gmail.com

Cheers,

Dean.

To get a Legal VIN plate from GM you will need to get a dealer to contact Vauxhall and request a new one. To do this they will want to know why its missing, if its due to crash damage as you have stated then GM will need a copy of the repair bill/insurance paper work and will also need a written letter from the repairer stating why the plate was ditched with the old front.

Problems are going to be: If a non commercial repairer fitted the nose cone, by that i mean a mate done for a few quid etc. The repairer / insurance company can not be found or have gone out of business.

And the last problem will be if GM still have the chassis plate blanks after all this time.

Another option might be to contact Opel archives in Russelsheim with photos of the car and a photo of the chassis number from the floor pan and any other info/history and ask if they could help out

Cheers

Andy

Or you could contact Dave Stokes in the Opel GT owner's clube. He has a contact in Germany that can get them made up.
