manta88
I have just started a rebuild on my 16 valve engine and i checked the engine number ,it reads 01 00 00 01, is it a recon engine or have i got one of the first C20XE engines ?,i was told the engine was originally out of a Cav GSI many years ago. johnboy
Don't know what that number is but if you look on the bell housing flange on the exhaust side of the block it should be stamped there, it'll probably be rusted over and hard to see, wd and sand paper usually brings it back. andyc
Yeah the number should be on the bell housing webb exhaust side. If the motor is a non cat engine then the number will start 20XE* If its a cat engine then the number will start C20XE. If you have anything diffent from the above then you have a recon motor and the number thats beeb stamped on the block will only be of any use to the people who built the motor Cheers Andy
upk
the number you refer to on the block top surface is most likely the bore measurement expressed in code as used on the engine assembly line!
