MB15
It`s a manta b or mk1 cavy you have ain`t it ? I`ve always turned the key to position 2 i think and there is a small pin you have to press at the same time near the middle or end of the barrel, pull the key out and this will take the barrel out with it , I`ve a spare barrel u can have to see how it works if u want? andyf21
Thanks Kev I have both mk1 cav and manta b,but it's the manta b i have just bought (no keys) I have the steering lock off but have had problems getting a key.they say I need the barrel out of the ingnition. So looks like I may need a new unit or may take in a door lock and see if that works. Thanks Andy

paulmanta
The number for the keys is stamped on the boot lock, on the flat bit of metal that turns the actual catch part, on a hatch its a long tang of meatal on a coupe its short, both need you to remove the catch mech to see it. As to the ignition, you need to get a key to withdraw the inner barrel from the main barrel house/steering lock holder. once you have a key you put it in, turn it one position and you can then put a small rod (paperclip sort of diameter) in a small hole about a 1/3 of the way down the outer barrel holder, this pushes a little spring clip out the way and the inner barrel will pop right out. If you need to remove the outer barrel you will need to get the shear bolt out, this can be done with a small chisel and a small hammer, tap the remains of the bolt head with the chisel/hammer combination in the undoing direction, these are not normally too tight and often come undone quite easily.
