cam.in.head
3/4 on the guage sounds completely normal to me especially if its a correct 92deg thermostat fitted.all cars have slightly differing readings due to manufacturing tolerances.main issue now of guage reading different with lights on is presumably solved.if you realy want the guage to read dead on half way then try a new sender.(common to virtually all vauxhalls)& see if it reads different.also try a 40 ohm resistor instead of the sensor to see what the guage reads.as mentioned earlier you could series or paralell a resisor into the existing sensor to make the guage read exactly where you want .
MSGManta
I had the same problem with my manta, I replaced the voltage stabiliser with an electronic 10 volts and the problem went. Edited November 14, 2012 by MSGManta
