Retro Power
Thought I'd post a set of pics from the most recent ascona 400 replica that we are working on: As it came, a spanish lhd car that the owner had taken with him to germany a few years ago, it was bought on ebay.de and we brought it back to the uk a couple of days later, its stripped to a shell and ready to remove the underseal and then blast it following blasting and zinc primer: usual chassis rail rot time for some metal repair work!! Retro Power
Righto, we'll start with a little light sill mending..... now, to those that think its just a case of cutting off the crappy little bit at the back and whacking the new one on.........here's the job laid out in detail! ooh bit tired here, had the usual repair welded over, leaving all the strengtheners un-attached: cut out a bit further to access all the centre reinforcer cut out centre reinforcer make a new one inner bit not too clever either so make one of those too weld em in the old jacking point tube was knackered so make one looking much better now! Retro Power
next we'll have a crack at some a-post repair work not an unusual sight to the manta owner cut off the worst of the bodgery to see what we're looking at all trimmed away back to the inner, which isn't bad at all (seen them missing completely!!) some zinc primer then its time to make a new outer piece....here I have to say Stu (our main metal man) shows his mettle if you'll pardon the pun all welded in

Retro Power
time for the really fun bit, the chassis rails! new bit looks a bit better than old and new outer made up and fitted as usual, Stu goes one better than my usual efforts, and actually makes the inner rail with the same stepped joint that it originally had!!!!
