Snowy
I need to set the timing on my 18s engine but the Haynes manual has confused me. It states in one section that the timing marks are TDC, then in another 10 degrees BTDC. Always thought that they were TDC, but it has been so long I could be wrong. So can someone confirm which it is? Also does anyone have a base setting for this engine running unleaded? Thanks
H-400
I checked my manual, to set the timing set the mark on the pulley inline with the needle (on the distribution house) with strobo while the engine is on idle. Don't pull any underpressure tubes off the ignition distributer. When I check the same manual on the chapter "distribution" the same mark on the pulley is TDC, and the mark on the camshaft-pulley and the mark on the small distributer-pulley are in line with the mark on the top of the distribution-house. Hope I could help you with this!
