4 SPEED FRONT OIL SEAL REPLACEMENT.

HI EVERYONE. 

HOPE YOU ARE  ALL SAFE AND WELL 😷🤞.

WITH HAVING LOCK DOWN  I HAVE  DECIDED TO  CHANGE  THE FRONT OIL SEAL  ON MY 4 SPEED GEARBOX. 

I HAVE  NOTICED THAT THE ORIGINAL  OIL SEAL  POPPED  OUT OF THE BELL HOUSING QUITE EASILY. 

WHEN OFFERING THE NEW SEAL INTO THE  BELL HOUSING  I HAVE NOTICED  THAT IT IS EASY TO PUSH IN AN ISNT VERY TIGHT.

IS THIS NORMAL  OR SHOULD I APPLY  SOME  SEALER TO THE OUTER EDGE OF THE SEAL JUST TO HOLD IT IN PLACE?

ANY ADVICE  WOULD BE  GREATLY  APPRECIATED 😁.

a very small coating of good quality silicone wont go amiss sparingly on the edge but ive never used any and dont think any was used originally .yes they usually are a relatively loose fit in the end and become sealed as the gearbox is tightened up. one of the easy gearbox jobs especially compared to the 5 speed

I appreciate your help and support. 

I put the seal in  with a  small  amount of  sealant today. Just to hold it in place.For when  I  offer the  box up an into the bell housing 👍.

I just wanted to make sure. 😁
