Is there a check or fix to make to a noisy fan. Gets noisier when I turn fan setting from 1 to 2 on my Opel manta 1987 gte?

I am not even sure it is working- and the noise has made me not use it in case it is damaging it more.

thanks as always for any thoughts.

Sounds like dry bushings, they don’t have bearings in the motor but rather bronze bushings that can get grit in them/slight rusting if Rotor shaft and then start to squeal with old age. They need a strip, good clean of bushing and Rotor shaft ends, bit of lube and away you go.

Ill see if I can find the thread for that was posted a while back with it been done that a member posted

Thanks. Yeah the one in here is covered in old sticky sealant(??). It is even over the electrical connection at the top. Presuming an Opel fix to water ingress issue or similar.

Yes it can have the Dow Corning type semi setting stuff on it. As Andy said, take off the sound dealing, unclip the cover , then it’s 3 screws to remove the motor.  Did not find the thread, think it might be buried into a project thread where it’s shown been repaired. Found a couple, but the photo links are dead now 🤦‍♂️ But pic of what we was talking about https://opel-shop.com/produkt/geblaesemotor-opel-ascona-b-manta-b-heizungsgeblaese-geblaese-heizung-neu-original/
