Too late now if you've already modded the exhaust manifold but you don't need to bother with the lambda sensor even if you are using a loom and engine designed to run one originally. Good luck with the plumbing and finishing off! On the last one I did I got where you are up to now in a weekend and then it took me another 4 weekends to have the thing driving round the block! I have some decent photos of the finer points of all the plumbing & stuff just give me a shout if you are stuck with anything it's all still fresh in my head [:I] Carl[] Located in Sunny Wigan Lancashire 1984 GTE Coupe 2.0XE16v - B623RWW - currently being reshelled... 1996 BMW 328i Touring Alpina Cosmetics Hartge Power - Parts Chaser/Manta Tower/Daily Driver OMOC Member#5937 E-Mail Me - mrcarlos@mantagte.co.uk Into MySpace? entwistlecymru
When I stuck a 16v in my Cav (which Mick now has) the inlet was close but didn't hit the servo. I think if you're junking the lambda sensor you need a different ECU? The loom is the same but the pre-cat 16v ECUs had a different part no - FZ or FX I think? The std engine mounts are ok (just ok...not good) unless you're fitting the SFi box (or if they've gone soft or rotten!). Fit a power cap anyway, then lower the engine to get the gravity down, stick on some 1800 lowering springs and it'll be sweeeeeeet. You could fit a GT/E roll bar if you're keeping the std ride height, but why would you want to do that?! Yeah, I'm interested to see how it turns out too. I'll be using TPS because there's already a sensor built into the bike carbs.
retrocarclub
Time for an update. Over the weekend I stripped out all the interior, cut off the top of the old auto box and re welded and seam sealed a manual one in its place, cleaned, de rusted and cavity protected the foot wells, removed most of the soundproofing, ran the wiring for the R1 fuel pump to the boot and finally refitted the carpets and interior. I also collected a stock 2.0 Manta exhaust and my bike carb manifold. It was a bloody busy weekend - on Sunday I started at 9am and finished at 11.15pm! - but well, well worth it as I've now got gears. My brilliant new inlet manifold: And my ATS wheels sporting 4 new Bridgestone 195/50/15 tyres (bargain of the month as I got all four and fitting for £60!). She's coming along nicely now

mickappy
that is tight, i wonder if that manifold is longer than bogg bros? what sort of filter you using? ive got k&n on for now and ive loads a room.
retrocarclub
Yeah, I think mine must be a lot longer, unless my engine mounts are taller? What ones have you used? I'd love to use similar filters to yours, because I think they look great, but I doubt i'd fit them under my bonnet so I might have to use those foam Pipercross sock filters.
