tony g
Hi all i am stripping out my a series to become a race car and was wondering if there was a late model steering column and rack that will fit into it. i dont mind having to do some fabrication as im not expecting a direct fit from anything. Any advice would be good, thanks in advance Tony
doveyte2800
why do you feel the need for stripping and fabricating a new steering system. If you require a quick rack, you can get one from rally design or quaife for a B series which will fit into the A rack. regards Ian

tony g
I know what ackerman is so hopefully wont chage geometry that much if any. I was thinking of keeping something up to date so parts would be easier. The column would be a good choice to change so i can use modern switch gear. I have read about astra columns being used so that may be a good option. The car will be a road legal drag car. Thanks for replies Tony
simon p
Ackerman (tick) Bump steer?? king pin inclination?? If you want to change the column you don't need to change the rack, i fitted an Alfa Column in my A Series a few years ago. I always leave the rack AND geometry in place, i do EVERYTHING i can NOT to change (or even move) anything when i do my V8 conversions.
