richm
Hi everyone - a quick note to say hello. I've just joined the OMOC for the 1st time, although I'm a long time Manta enthusiast and have owned my Manta since 1986 (it was my 2nd ever car). The car is a very early B (Jan 1976) - 1900 Berlinetta, Monza Blue, Black vinyl roof. No major mods. Bodywork and interior are in great shape overall (I've done some minor resto on it myself a long time back). Its been off the road for the last 10 years due to lack of time to sort out the following things that need to be fixed before it's usable again... * Engine running hotter than it should, and oil coming out of oilway plug on side of cyl head (I now think both these may be caused by blocked oilway at front of head) * Exhaust front pipe has disintegrated where it meets first silencer, so need new front pipe or new section inserting * Needs 4 new tyres (current ones are so old they squeal when cornering at walking pace!) This year I really am gonna get these things sorted so I can enjoy using this car again. Having a young family I know I won't get time to take the head off etc, so I've arranged for a sports/classics specialist I know to sort it out as a side-project. One big thing I've noticed is that 10 yrs ago it was quite easy to get most parts for this car, but now just about anything seems to be hard to find (especially for the pre 1981 cars/engines). - How easy/difficult is it to get mechanical basics like head gasket, exhaust parts, brake cylinders, disks, etc? - And what about body panels, etc? Any advice gratefully received. Cheers... Rich Miller
garymanc
hi rich and a warm welcome - How easy/difficult is it to get mechanical basics like head gasket, exhaust parts, brake cylinders, disks, etc? should be fairly easy to get hold off on ebay and maybe motor factors or through the forum parts wanted - And what about body panels, etc? a bit more difficult a few places sell repair panels or if you have plenty off money dr manta in germany
