bones
I have noticed on a couple of Manta boxes the top half of the gear stick spins round when I'm trying to tighten the gear knob, is there any way of stopping this besides welding the two together? bones
Wow! I must have 3 of the rarest gearboxes ever produced by Opel, all with loose spinning gear sticks . Has no one else had this problem?
spiney_norman
I've never seen a 5 speed box with a spinning gearlever! Thought the knobs were just a push fit?
mantasrme
The gear knob is a push fit onto a serrated rod, but i think there might have also been a bit of glue in there originaly as they really don't want to come off if you've ever tried removing one. If its just the knob thats spinning remove it and add a bit of glue when you stick it back on. Or if that doesn't work you can replace it with an aftermarket one that is held by a grub screw. Christ
The gear lever is made up of two parts separated by a rubber ring with a circlip below to keep them togther, guessing something there's worn/come lose - a bit of glue should sort it
