monzta
Cheers guys. I am very interested in flocking the interior of the Manta A, and was wondering if i can do it myself ? I seem to remember seeing a flocking kit for sale on ebay, but i am not sure whether or not it´s for amateurs use I also seem to remember that you need to make the part that you apply it to static or something ? Let me hear what you guys think
vauxsenb
I can't remember clearly but I have seen the same in the distant past. Would it not be an easier alternative to use alcantara in lengths to cut and trim to suit, I would think it would look better and last a lot longer. cheers, Colin. Kevin Abbott
Something like this? http://www.frost.co.uk/flock-colour-trim-kit.html Looks pretty basic. I was talking to a bloke about his flocking on his dash the other day and it was a frost kit, he said it was very good and easy to use

monzta
£26 postage to denmark tho Oh buggar ! Did a bit of research myself and have decided to give this a try http://www.flocking.biz/ I was looking at prices here in Denmark, and only a small handfull of companies offer Flocking and at a horrible price. Some 120£ to get a dashboard flocked ! ! ! So i think that with a bit of practice i could flock other peoples stuff at almost half that price and still make a pretty penny doing it. I know that suede or leather would be the nicer option, but i simply can´t afford it. Getting a car covered in leather or suede here in Denmark can easily set me back 1500£ so that is absolutely out of the question i´m affraid. Flocking seems to be a nice alternative as this also gives me the opportunity to make my own center console for the A seríes (around the gear and handbrake) and i can make extra room for gauges on the dashboard and the finished result will be very good i think. Thanks for your help guys
Kevin Abbott
That frost kit is really good, I looked at my mates mk1 escort dash and thought it was a pro job, he said it was great and easy to do as you can flock the item on a plastic sheet and reuse the material that drops off. Touch ups are easy too he said. I work in the same town as frost is located so if you need any information or want to see if I can get it and post it to you cheaper than they quote just let me know. Regards Kev Hi Kev. Oh that would be very good if that is possible I could find a kit that suits my needs and maybe wire you the money for it and the shipment ? I bet it isnt bigger than the ordinary post carriage can handle it, so maybe that could be alot cheaper?
ascona400r
Have an electrostatic machine here for flocking, bought it few years back. I found it hard enough to master in fairness. Frosts glue is a single part one which isn't really the proper job. I use a 2 part glue. And spray it on to get an even coverage, rather than brush painting the glue on. I suppose I never put much time into the whole thing so may be easy to master with more effort.
