moodoo
Folks...straightforward question... I'm trying to get the 2 steering arm bolts out of my (A-series) - I need to get the splash guards off. I've got the nuts off the bolts OK, but no amount of brute force will seem to get the bolts themselves to budge. Any tip or trick I'm missing here? Next thing I had thought to try was to get the blowtorch out and try to heat them up? Thanks in advance..

In that case they are conical and cannot be taken out unless you use vast amounts of violence wich will result in broken parts, or you can use a uniball fork. Dont know what they are called in English but it is like a big fork that you hammer in between the steering bolt socket and the control arm to pull them apart.?? moodoo
No, it's not the bolt holding the track rod end to the steering arm, its the two bolts that hold the steering arm onto the upright. There's two on each steering arm, and they've got rectangular heads. Name of the game is just to get the splash guards off, and these 2 bolts seem to be the only thing now holding it on. Shug
I think I know the biTs you mean. They bolt on the back of stub axle and have a bit that stops the steering turning too far? They should come out ok. May have rusted in place in which case heat might work. Or a good dose of lube (obviously keeping it awaY from brakes!)
