Andrew65 Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 Only joking chaps, imagine sourcing parts for this chappie? You'd need a transit van for just one conrod bolt! I was sent them by my brother-in-law who is a chief engineer for Cunard. Enjoy. 1
robah Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 I wonder if they turbo that engine, it will give a little more power
Julian Posted September 21, 2012 Posted September 21, 2012 That is some engine. I served on H.M.S. ALAUNIA in 1953, and the steam engines on there ( recips) where massive, the low pressure piston was about 84inch diameter, maybe a few inches more than that, the first stage piston was a lot smaller, can/t remember exact size, around 50 inch maybe. I often wonder what the piston /s diameter on TITANIC would have been, will have to look it up, bigger than my 1.9 CIH that's for sure!.
