parkysmanta
hi guys, i suspect this has been covered before. currently re-building my front axel. today placed my springs in but im now thinking there the wrong war around there progresive and i have the tighter wound coils at the bottom, they need to be at the top right????? with the softer part of the spring at the bottom? just thinking because the top mount is fixed and the bottom is pivited so thats the point of pressure. is this making sense haha
tony g
No closed coils at the bottom as you have them. Tony
rutts
i always put them at top . the decision is yours
mantadoc
i always put them at top . the decision is yours I understand it to be as above. Reason being putting the "dead coils" at the top reduces the sprung weight and the inertia of the moving suspension parts
tony g
now ive re-read it I think i'm wrong and everyone else is right I was thinking like valve springs being closed coils downwards but the road spring as mentioned moves from the bottom. Carry on Tony
