johnw
What kind of power can the standard 1.9 auto box handle, with a little hooligan driving? I know from the forum the rear axle can take 200hp... I'm very much leaning towards the x25xe/x30xe route or Isuzu 3.2 v6 (frontera is it called?) but all the work involved with different gearboxes and rear ends is starting to put me off a little... or should I go whole hog with omega v6 engine, box and complete IRS so many choices... mantaray
you will need a Manta 1.8 or carlton or omega box for this converstion. I have the X25xe in my A using the Manta 1.8 Getrag box and standard axel, she is putting out 215 BHP and have no problem handleinh the power. rutts
as above you need to change gearbox or at least bellhousing to fit that engine. you could try to find a carlton 2.0 family 2 auto four speed box that would be a good choice if you wish to stay auto.. simon p
I blew a carlton auto box with 195 bhp, you could use a TH350/400 box. I'd go the omega route though but not fit the IRS, done that loads of work for not a lot of return.
johnw
Cheers gents, makes sense to fit a matching Omega engine and box. Would hopefully make it easier to find.
