kenny dock
Hi folks, need help. I need to get rid of my varajet 2 carb. iVe got a 2.0s cih engine in my car. I want to buy a weber 32 /36 dgav. But ive been told i need a 1.9 cih inlet manifold (cant get one anyehere) therefore what options do i have, are there any other plug and play setups? any advice would be very helpful kenny dock
pat
could be wrong but i always thought the inlet manifolds were the same ,between a 1.6.1.9 & a 2.0 cih carb engine
spiney_norman
There was a chap on ebay a while ago offering complete brand new Weber conversion kits with the adapter plate for the 2.0S manifold, about £230 IIRC. Pat, the spacings on the studs are slightly different for the different carbs
kenny dock
i've made the decision. called gower lee carb specialists and ordered brand new weber 32 / 36 dgav and conversion kit. (more money!) i would appreciate any advice required on doing this conversion before i hit brick walls kenny
dynamytedan
usually with a conversion kit the extra base plate raises it all up a bit ,it will probably be alright with the standard air filter , but a K+N on top may come very close to stopping the bonnet closing .(did on my old 1800 anyway) throttle cable may not be a strait fit . also the old varajet had an electric auto choke right? not sure but the weber could be a water heated bi metallic spring ... you might need to pipe some water into it if its is that way . or get just the dgv manual choke and have a cable . this could all be BS , it could plop strait on . kenny dock
i thought i would have needed the water pipe chopped but ive been sent a dgav with electric choke. the carb has also come with a clamp for the original air filter,. looks to bwe a good kit, hope the throttle cable is not a pain in the a***. however thanks for the warning. kenny
spiney_norman
DGV has manual choke, DGAV is electric and DGEV is water if I remember right!
pat
Pat, the spacings on the studs are slightly different for the different carbs really? i know i put a inlet off a 1.6 onto a 2.0 head a few years ago , maybe the manifold had been fiddled with previously? always something new to learn lol
spiney_norman
They all fit the same to the head, just the studs that hold the carb to the inlet manifold were differently spaced on some of them!
