D85CGV
I'm considering overhauling a spare engine I bought for my Manta. I was wondering if it's possible to buy a complete kit to do this or do I need to get the parts individually. Cheers Davy
lamchop77
You will need to source the parts separately. Use Payen or elring gaskets, if your struggling for engine bearings contact risse motorsport. Hth Chris
611
These guys do some good CIH parts. They only do bank transfer but i did it with first direct for £4 and got my head bolts from them. And better on price than risse! and got my bearings and gaskets from these guys. https://www.shopssl.de/epages/es125089.sf/ I hope some of this helps a bit. D85CGV
I don't know yet I need to take measurements of the cylinders first to see what kind of wear there is in them. But that's handy to know thanks Davy
Julian
I don't know yet I need to take measurements of the cylinders first to see what kind of wear there is in them. But that's handy to know thanks Davy I don't know what your budget is, but if that engine is pre Unleaded Petrol, I 'm not sure, but I think you can tell by the engine number, or there is a stamp in the casting that will tell you, I'm sure someone on here with more knowledge of the CIH engine than I have, will let you know. I would think seriously about having the valve seats changed so that you can run on Unleaded Petrol, well worth it if your wallet can stand it!! the engine shop that does the reboring will also undertake that mod; It seems that you haven't done this type of thing before, but there is always a first time for everyone, and you have all the vast knowledge of the guys in this club to help you. I wish you all the best. Edited January 2, 2014 by Julian
D85CGV
Done plenty engine rebuilding etc since I'm a mechanic but just wondered about the cih engine as you can buy complete o/h kits for some engines. The car currently runs on unleaded but since I'll be stripping it down that far I would definitely replace the seats. Mechanical work doesn't phase me but the bodywork does never had to do anything to advanced Cheers Davy

611
Hi Chris Try this link http://www.kv-carworld.de/ or this one http://www.krause-rennsporttechnik.de/cms/ I think i found them selling a set on ebay but it didn't include the end caps ones, so messaged them and they pointed me to their website. there seems to be more listed these days on ebay germany http://www.ebay.de/sch/i.html?_odkw=opel+glyco+bearings&_osacat=0&_from=R40&LH_PrefLoc=2&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.Xopel+manta+glyco+bearings&_nkw=opel+manta+glyco+bearings&_sacat=0 Also found a very good source for piston rings when i buggered one up putting the engine back in, but will need to dig through email to find the link. Loads of places out there in germany doing stuff its just trying to find them :-) Also Jan over at enem is very helpful and speaks good english as i had to phone him about the cam! http://enem.se/ib.asp Andy ps. all much more helpful than Risse!
