JonnyD
Finally got the electrics fixed and planned to go for a long drive over the bank holiday. Filled the car up to almost full and started driving. Thought there was a strong petrol smell. Turned and came home. Found the issue as in the photos from a short video I took. will this likely be the end of the fuel tank or is there anything I can do? Thanks friends as always for thoughts.
Sutty2006
Yep. That’s f**ked. Hatch tanks are flat on the top and the seam is renowned for corroding and splitting. the tank needs to come off and be repaired. Don’t throw it away, there must be a company somewhere in the uk that can repair it. Maybe give these guys a ring if they can fix it, let me know, because I need a tank cleaning and sealing professionally before it starts to leak. 2

They repaired my radiator last year and did a great job at a very good price, as you say they also repair fuel tanks they made a point of letting me know. JonnyD
Thanks folks. As I am in Northern Ireland I will probably be looking for more local help
®evo03
https://brownlowradiators.com/ A calibra or cavalier hatch tank is similar, and plastic. If getting vent fitted, get 8mm elbow braised or solidered in, and 8mm pipe.

There was one called that up in the northern part of England but I don’t think they’re going anymore.
