So that’s the box section in the cill cavity’s the original outer cill(new panel) will still fit perfectly 

ime using cold galvanising spray it’s cheap it’s zinc rich and adheres well I’ve used it on bare steel and I have a peice that’s been in the shed for three years and it’s a damp timber shed and it’s still rust free,,,ime using this in cavities,,

also a pic of the wide quarter I did on a chevette ime probably going to do the same on the manta

couple of pics up inside the quarter panel showing the box section sitting perfectly

Before fitting the 80x40 I put a flap disc over it to key it up to de rust any minor  spots and so the paint sticks

Any work on the door pillars will be tied into the  box in the cill

You can see the bottom of the box section is the same level as the  folded inner Cill   lip  that sits on the outrigger

I used a couple of tec screws through the  inner Cill panel into the box to pull it tight

Progress has slowed as ime back in work the beauty of being at work is I get to take advantage of the CNC metal folder and the scrap steel pile made some floor pans 1’5 mm steel and v ribs for strength
