What i mean is simple, you can drive almost any car on a track day. If you want to rally, you may need to change a number of things on the car to meet FIA regs.e.g. Roll cage, fire safety,Tyres,Brakes,Engine, suspension mods, Belly plates etc. To make it simple Martin, I do build Race and Rally cars on a daily base. so if u want some help or advise u r welcome to contact me. Shuviteer
Thats true. I just intend using mine as an everyday run a round, with the occassional 1/4 mile blast down the strip, so with that I don't need to upgrade much. If you are using it for Rallies, then your suspension setup will be totally different to a track day set up.Unless you intend doing tarmac rallies. So as Andreas has said, you really need to decide which direction you want to go first, then look into the regs.

Craftycrofty
Hi Andy, Thanks for the reply, the car has a roll cage and other bits,so i think some track days may be in order. I could send some photos if you would be prepared to have a quick look over them and comment. Once again many thanks I welcome the input of those who know lots more than me!!!! MudMax
Hello Martin, if you wanted me to have a look at a number of images I gladly will. I would also suggest you get yourself an MSA book, which will give you an inside into rules and regs. Cheers Andy

mantadoc
That was one of my three tasks to do on receipt of any standard Manta, otherwise they tear out when the cars are used enthusiastically. Depending on who built the car they are only on with four spot welds that fatigue.

mantadoc
Steer clear of the Granada rear calipers. To be honest, seeing as the fronts do most of the braking and with one mod the rear handbrake becomes reliable and doesn't lock on if used heavily, such as auto tests, handbrake turns etc, I wouldn't have done mine as I inherited them with the car and have found the rear drums to be better and cheaper to maintain by far and less trouble. That said there are other calipers that can be used, and other disks instead of the cheap MK III Escort ones. What engine is in yours? upk
rear disc conversion:- vectra 1.7 turbo diesal 270mm solid disc 1995 - 2001 with zafira/astra rear caliper 2001- used escort caliper brackets welded onto rear axle ( bolt pitch n diameter for caliper is same) method:- bolt disc to axle hub ( ensure spigot sits correctly) bolt bracket to caliper, fit new set of pads, position caliper over disc and apply air pressure to caliper to clamp to disc weld in place. nb fit a bias valve so you can shift brake effort to front. Handbrake cable was custom made by RDB93, using an astra cable and original manta cable. for front you have many options, i used carlton disc and volvo 4 pot calipers on my A series but for the B i am going audi redrilled disc and 16v calipers.
