Manta A Rear Axle Dilema

Hi,

I'm new to the site and would like to seek to advice about my plans. I have a 1973 manta a which i would like to put a chevy v8 crate engine and tremec T56 gearbox into. I am wanting to know which would be the best axle to use.

My preferred option would be to use the standard axle with a quaife LSD fitted but not sure if the ratios would be correct or whether the diff/shafts are upto the power of a chevy v8. Can you buy uprated ones???.

I have also thought about a volvo 240, ford 9", commodore gs/e axles as well but don't know enough about them yet.

Any info would be much appreciated

Cheers

I'm no expert on this type of mod, but a few years back Paul Holtom built a Rover V8 powered A series, he used a lot of the running gear from the Commodore B to cope with the extra power and torque. There's not a huge amount of space between the chassis rails of the Manta which has been a limiting factor for a lot of people in the past. Having said that, I once saw a Jag V12 shoe horned under the bonnet, scary.
