399Road
I keep seeing this car on my way to work and wondered if it belongs to somebody on here. It looks really tidy and reminds me of my first Manta. ...Luke.

devilwoo
Not mine, I haven't been near High Lane. However about 6 months ago I saw a dark/Grey/Black Coupe @ John Lewis in Cheadle? There is another in the area.
399Road
It's a Carmine red coupe with 5 spoke aftermarket alloys and has chrome look transfers in its rear quarter windows that say something like "Opel tuning".
devilwoo
My brother saw this red one in Hyde a couple of weeks back.
Jack
Just an update on the Red Coupe you are talking about. Me and a friend went up to see it in his Manta and it is still there parked outside of his house. He wasn't in at the time but the 5 spoke aftermarket alloys I think are made by TSW. It has genuine Engellmann 400 mirrors on as well as a full set of genuine Irmscher headlights. We had a look underneath it and the Car currently is in a very sorry state I have never seen swan necks in this state. You can literally see through them. I know of the person it belongs to as my godfather used to be friends with him until they lost contact and it is a restoration project basically. The interior had been stripped out when we saw it yesterday but it originally had a full set of original Blitz seats in it, maybe they have been taken out for safety reasons? The Car (as far as I am aware) has an original i200 engine in it also but unsure whether or not it is seized. The Manta looks great and I can imagine it on the road and the sunroof doesn't seem as bad as imagined either. I could only spot one blister on the roof and to say it's been off the road for over 10 years is very impressive! Really hope to meet the owner next time I am down that way as I would love to talk to him about it as it used to be a show standard Car. Just to let you know Mike the Manta your brother saw in Hyde can't have been the same one as this one has been sat for 10 plus years and you would have a right job trying to move it as I would imagine that the brakes are seized on by now. Really enjoyed seeing it and like I said I hope to see the owner in the near future! Cheers, Jack.
devilwoo
The one he seen in hyde definitely had the black opel decals on the side windows, must be something similar?
Jack
Hi Mike, Yes it is definitely a similar one and that's what one of my friends said when we went to see the Red Coupe in his Gold Hatch. It says Opel Performance in the rear side windows and has an Irmscher Badge on the front spoiler. Me and my friend are going back up at some point to speak to the owner about it. It's such a sad site to see. Jack.

Jenson
I would love to save this if it was for sale but I already have two mantas and I keep saying I am not going to do any more project cars.
Jack
That's it Garymanc, Me and my friend went up to look at it and talk to the owner but the owner wasn't there, it needs saving the swan necks are in really bad shape! I can only hope that the rest of the underneath isn't as bad. We are planning on going back to look at it and if he isn't in we will slip a note under the door. Thanks for posting this picture Jack. garymanc
would not mind another coupe especially when its going waste sat there , same old story though been after a hatch going to waste and never get a reply
Jack
Yes I know what you mean, I have heard off my godfather that the owners brother is really good at welding and the fact he hasn't taken the project on tells you something. But to be honest there are another million reasons as to why the project hasn't been started yet, time and money being two. Also maybe he hasn't had the motivation? Whatever the reason this was a show standard Manta according to his wife when we spoke to her, we need to go back asap.

Jack
Mantas need to go to a home that they deserve when they are in that state. It's so sad to see them sitting there getting worse when all they want to do is get back up and running. We need to go back down asap Martin so we can get in contact with the owner of the Red GT/E.
