hoobby
Just finished working my way through an electrical nightmare of corroded connections took an hour to tease the headlight relay out of its block everything now works except the reversing lights tho I believe not required for a mot would like them to work switch shows open circuit all the time.was the same switch used for the 5 speed getrag boxes? Or is there anything inside the box that would cause this.
Jessopia74
The switch is just a plunger, you could unscrew it and check it’s operation.
hoobby
Believe me I've tried very cramped area to work in and I don't bend like I used to and can't get enough leverage to get it moving soaked in penetrating spray at mo will try again tomorrow. Sutty2006
The 4 and 5 speed are completely different boxes and I think the switches are different

Also for the hell of it tried to repair the old switch the act of pulling this apart nearly destroyed it cleaned up contact surfaces then utterly destroyed it trying to press it back together...oh well nothing ventured..... Jessopia74
You certainly have a lot of patience, seems like just old age related for the original then.
