Martin 123
Hi I use to own an irmscher GTE exclusive that had a unique steering wheel and Irmscher graphic on the back of the hatch. I remember it fondly, it also had a big valve head conversion and I always wondered what extra performance that have it over standard, just wondered if anyone knows ? Jessopia74
Was it an i200 perhaps? Not much difference from the engine mods, they will have been noticeable during driving though. Power was up by ~15bhp Edited October 11, 2022 by Jessopia74
Martin 123
Thanks no it was definitely a GTE Exclusive but had the irmscher kit rather than the later exclusive ones. the previous owner said he gave it a big valve head conversion so it didn’t come from new with the mod

Without knowing the spec it would be hard to say. However, the std CIH head is what restricts the power of the CIH engine as a whole, so any increase is a benefit. I do think there was 45mm inlet & 40mm? Exhaust valves off the shelf option that was pretty common. But as a modification alone, you would not be looking at much of a power increase of 5-6bhp with an increase in the top end useable revs.

Yeah think that’s right, the Larger valves are what’s fitted to the Later 3.0 12v engine (Senator/Monza)of 45/40mm
