LostSoul
Hi there I need to sort out my carb😐 Cold/cool starting is painful - auto choke is way too enthusiastic and floods the system until the engine has been running for quite a few seconds. There's lots of 'revving' involved to keep the engine running through that time... Engine and carb are factory original. Shall I just replace the carb like-for-like and stick with auto choke or is there a recognised 'fix' please? If the former, what do I order please? 🤓 All help gratefully received as always. Best wishes to all LS
Sutty2006
Can you convert it to manual choke? I prefer to be in control of the engines drinking problem myself.
cam.in.head
yes i would agree . you should be able to find a manual conversion on ebay also im pretty sure that the solex on the 1.6 is a similar size choke unit as the zenith so that may open up your options . worth making sure the existing choke is working ok and set up corrextly first as the original sydtem was pretty simple and reliable . but study a manual and get an undestandinv of it yourself as i doubt any garages will know how yo fo it unless you find an old mechanic ! LostSoul
Thank you for the replies. A specialist rebuilt the original carb when I got the car and warned that the auto choke can cause issues. Your comments here have made me decide to go down the manual choke route. I have taken the plunge and ordered a new manual-choke Weber carb kit for this car from Fast Road Cars on eBay... A Good move?? Thanks again LS

Certainly find more help/tuners that will setup a Weber rather than pull that usual face when mentioning others 😃 1
