Cone8v
- Are the only mechanical differences between the 2.0E 110hp in a gte manta and a 2.0E 125/136hp i200 manta the distributor and the cam/solid lifters? - What about the ecu? Was the airflow meter tuned differently in the factory? - What about the cylinder head and valves, injectors ? Has anyone tried tuning the stock distirubutor or making the i200 one. why did they go with solid lifters instead of the hydro ones? There is probably a similar cam to the i200 cam that i could get but im wondering about the rest.
Chris M
I believe the i200 also had a different exhaust, an Irmscher one which will have contributed to the increased power over a standard GTE!
Jessopia74
Cam - solid lifters if it’s more aggressive than a hydraulic profile will allow. The cam lobes are not huge so anything over a milder spec needs to move to solid. KENT OP234 is probably the closest. Distributor - will need more advance, so it woukd have been modded in the old way or bob weights on the mechanism with different springs. It’s pretty much covered in an early tuning books . Plenty of info on the web too about how/why injection - no mods would be needed, the LE-Jetronic can cope to about 145bhp as is, a bit more with a rising rate fuel pressure regulator with a slightly tweak to the AFM (swap to a larger type from BMW/GSE etc) 1
rutts
Jefboite.be will fully recondition and modify advance on a bosch distributor to i200 spec, Had mine done came back as good as new. 3

Yep they did. Ive read that the std manifold is pretty good flowing already, can anyone confirm if its okay up to 140hp? And the rest of the exhuast id fabricate myself 🙂
rutts
Will flow more than that with a bit of port alignment also including manifold to down pipes. I have a 2.4 cast exhaust manifold with large/long diameter down pipes into a 2 1/2 system.
